Sanur Village Festival will be held in Bali from 24th - 28th September 2013. All activities take place at Maisonette Area of Inna Grand Bali Beach Hotel, Sanur

This festival, now in its 8th year, is held over 5 days, with the main attractions at the food festival area combined with a wide range of entertainment, both traditional and modern.

Ida Bagus Gede Sidharta, chairman of Yayasan Pembangunan Sanur (Sanur Development Foundation), told journalists on Tuesday 6th August that this year’s festival, running from Sept. 24-28, would feature new activities to support the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in early October.

“The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry is hopeful that the festival will serve as a warm up event for the APEC meeting,” he said.

Sidharta further explained that the Tourism and Creative Economy Minister, Mari Elka Pangestu, was scheduled to attend a number of events during the festival.

The Minister, he said, fully appreciated the festival, which deserved to be promoted in the national and international arena. “The festival has greatly contributed to improving the island’s image as an international tourist destination,” Sidharta said, quoting Mari.

A series of exhibitions, discussions and workshops on creative industry will be held during the festival, encouraging young businesspeople and artists to participate and showcase their talent and products.

The routine agenda will remain the highlight of the festival. This consists of art performances, music concerts, a food bazaar, Balinese culinary challenge, Sanur open golf tournament, jukung (traditional boat) competition, art parade, marine sports, cultural dialogue and environmental activities, all of which will be presented at the festival themed “Segara Giri,” literarily “Ocean and Mountain”.

Do not forget the green programmes such as beach cleaning campaign, baby turtle release, coral reef conservation and tree plantation.
